Health

If you feel that 20k (around 12.5 miles) is too far, we can assure you that the
walk is relatively flat and undemanding. Anyone with a reasonable degree of fitness and who walks at a reasonable pace should be able to complete the
walk without difficulty.

However, don’t forget that there are shorter walks available.
It’s a fact! Walking for half an hour 5 times a week is enough to:

  • Halve the risk of coronary heart disease
  • Improve co-ordination, flexibility, stamina and energy
  • Reduce the chance of developing Type II diabetes
  • Cut the risk of suffering a stroke by one third
  • Maintain weight loss
  • Ease depression and anxiety

The Ramblers Association and ‘Walking for Health’ have produced guidelines
and information about the health benefits of walking. Click on the links below

Walking is a healthy pursuit, however the organisers cannot be held
responsible for personal injury, accident, loss, damage or public liability.
Walkers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
